Naturschauspiel in der Provinz – Carnival der Kulturen verwandelt Bielefeld am 7. Juni in eine Weltmetropole - Der 12. Bielefelder Carnival der Kulturen wird am Sonntag, den 7. Juni, von 15 Uhr an rund 100 000 Zuschauer in seinen Bann ziehen. Vom diesjährigen Motto „Ruf der Natur“ seien die Teilnehmer völlig begeistert und inspiriert, sagt Veranstalterin Uschi Dresing vom Shademakers Carnival Club.

Turbulente Übernahme: Mächtig Theater auf der Straße - Kunterbunt und fantastisch, laut und auch skurril-martialisch ging es zu, als gestern Abend die Shademakers und die niederländischen Lunatics die Residenz eroberten. Mit ihrer Performance boten sie einen kleinen Vorgeschmack auf das Projekt „Faszination Mythos 2009“, das sie für das Varusjahr entwerfen.
Maschseefest: Karneval der Kulturen - Rasseln, Trommeln, Tänzer: Die Eröffnung des Maschseefestes erinnerte am Donnerstagabend an eine Parade irgendwo zwischen Havanna und Rio. Einhelliger Tenor der Zuschauer: die beste Eröffnung seit Jahren….. Begleitet von den „Shademakers“ nahmen die Gäste zunächst das Nordufer in Beschlag. Die Künstlergruppe mit Sitz in London und Bielefeld zählt seit Jahren zu den auffälligsten Erscheinungen beim Notting Hill Carnival, dem größten in dem von karibischen Einwanderern geprägten Stadtteil Londons. Passend zum neuen Anspruch, das Fest noch multikultureller gestalten zu wollen, warfen sie ein erstes Glanzlicht auf das Programm….

Kinetic Artist uses ArtisanCam to bring Art to Schoolchildren - Artist Paul McLaren has created carnival costumes for shows right across Europe.
A kinetic artist is creating a carnival film costume whilst being filmed for live broadcast over the internet to 15 small rural schools across Cumbria and Northumberland. Local carnival arts organisation Barracudas Limited are hosting artist Paul McLaren for a one-month innovative residency in Barrow-in-Furness until the end of November 2007. During his time in Barrow Paul will create one of his signature carnival costumes “This is an exciting and innovative use of new media technology which will enable pupils to inform their own practice in a variety of art forms,” said Joe Killalea, teacher adviser Lancashire Professional Development Service.
The angel of Barrow - The project has been devised by award-winning arts and education website ArtisanCam who have been broadcasting Paul’s progress live over the Internet into 15 small rural schools on www.artisancam.org.uk.
A world-class carnival artist Paul McLaren has created a six meter tall kinetic angel costume live on the Internet to an audience of Cumbrian schoolchildren. The month long project which ended on Thursday 29th November had been a mix of education, technology and the arts as Paul McLaren constructed his latest work at Barrow’s Nan Tait Centre.
